Pink Blossoms and Floral Dresses

My sister and I made the most of the 25Β° scorching sun yesterday and took a trip to the local park (it was packed, so clearly we weren’t the only one with this idea), and both of us being photography enthusiasts, took the opportunity to take pictures of the beautiful scenes. I managed to get a few pretty photos (some of them were a bit bright from the sun!) and also took a good walk around to soak up the scenery.

It was a pretty lovely afternoon out,Β the park we went to is a pretty huge one with plenty of gardens with flowers, a lake with boats, a play ground area, and also leads to the local mansion if you walk far enough!

We also found some small hidden areas sectioned around the lake which looked beautiful, especially when we were walking through them which had a very private, ethereal feel to them.

One of the things I love seeing in spring are blossoms, it feels like they all fall off too quickly! I’ve been seeing lots of these this spring, thankfully, and love how pretty they look.

We also saw lots of people hiring boats to paddle on the lake, which looked pretty fun, and made for a nice adventure for a lot of the families – I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this over summer, especially if the weather stays this nice!

All in all, it was a really lovely day out to the park, finished off with yummy cold slushies. I even managed to wear my pretty floral dressed which I had tailored for summer – perfect for matching with blossom trees!

Weekend Pretty…Easter Sunday Trees

The weather has been slightly more schizo than lately, but we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy the rain (and hailstones!) from inside with this lovely long bank holiday weekend! I’m sure you know I have an obsession with trees (and chocolate) so naturally I took the chance to take a picture of these today when rushing out to the shops to buy snacks for a lazy Sunday!

Enjoy the weekend all!

White flowers against white

I’ve been noticing the flowers which are budding, the sky getting lighter in the evenings and the brisk air getting warmer by the afternoons these days, which means spring is on it’s way, along with (hopefully!) warm weather, colourful gardens and lots of grass in my garden which will all need cutting.

So here’s some blossoms to start the week with, symbolic for new beginnings, fresh colours and a promise for the rest of the season : )

A Day Out at Willen Lake

We decided to have a day out this weekend, making the most of the Bank Holiday and not having to go work the next day (yaay!) by taking a picnic and surprising my sister with a day out at Willen Lake.

So we took the kids, made some snacks and nibbles, took some badminton rackets, balls and a cricket bat, and headed up to the park and hid. Meanwhile, my sister’s husband dragged her to to the park with their little daughter and went around in circles in the same part of the park, to her bafflement, while we all hid (I came late so didn’t hide) behind bushes and shushed the kids.

Finally she spotted us and the look of disbelief on her face was something to see – although it was less of a surprise after the toddlers ran towards her instead of hiding!

We had a great day though, and managed to take in the sights (and the kids managed to hijack the children’s play area which made their day). My husband and I wanted to try some boating, but it as too cold and windy so we promised to come back in the summer when it’s hotter to give it a try (that way he won’t mind when I push him in the water!)

Here’s a few snaps of the day, I didn’t take many photos as we were too busy playing games and eating, or chasing little toddlers around – but I do love these shots. The ones of the swans are one of my favourite, there’s something dreamy about them all gathering together : )

Green Trees and Blue Skies = A Day at the Park

We’ve been catching plenty of rays these days, so we decided to spend a sunny Sunday at the local park to gawk at ducks and watch my niece run around and chase her own shadow. Here’s a few snaps that I took, it doesn’t quite capture the fresh air and landscape the way I hoped, but you CAN see all the little spots that we discovered and the little secret greenery we found.

Some good news…

“And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): Verily in that are signs for those who reflect.”
[Al-Rum: 21]

“It is He Who created you from a single person, and made his mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her (in love).”
[AI-A`raf: 189]

I don’t often post about personal things too much, mainly because I’m quite a reserved person, and I’m also a little choosy about what I write/photograph/draw about. I do have some good news to share though, and would like your prayers over the next few months as I take a new step in my journey towards good things.

I’m happy to say that I’m getting married at the end of this year, and it’s something which has kept me emotional and ecstatic in turns. I’d like to share my news and ask you to keep me in your prayers and share your advice, blessings and of course any tips you find helpful as I look forward to the rest of the year : )

Surreal Spring Blossoms

One of the things I like about my job is that even though it involves a lot of travelling around during the day, I see a lot of things around London which catch my eye, and which I wouldn’t normally see. And because it’s during the day, I get to enjoy the summery weather occasionally ( when I’m not behind the desk!)

These are some beautiful blossoms I saw yesterday while I was out, which I thought looked quite surreal and bright, partly because of their translucence and also they almost looked like paintings against such a blue sky. Although I love the bright colours of flowers which unfurl and grow in the summer, I also love the tree’s blossoms at the beginning of spring too, and it’s nice to see pink-and-white fluffy clouds floating in trees right now.

City Dreams from a distance

Sometimes I enjoy being in a congested, crowded place to work in and live in, if only because of the beautiful night lights I see on the way home. There’s unexpected moments where I stop to appreciate the beautiful little things, the hidden street art, the pretty lanterns, the beautiful skies.

This is something I saw when I peeked out of my window at work about three minutes before putting my coat on to go home – the lights looks lovely, the sky was a wash of colours and there’s something dreamy about the city skyline in the background, especially with the string of coloured lights. I go past these lights every day (they change colour, that’s why one is green!) and have always wanted to get a decent picture of the lights, and have never quite managed to. Today I got a lucky shot which I was quite happy with, although no doubt I’ll keep trying to take better shots!

Pics & Tricks: Light Blue Trees

I thought I’d show how a different range of colours on the same image can have a completely different effect, as well as different highlights and shadows the same photo can have. I edited this tree picture with various shades of blue and focus of light, and I actually do like most of these, although a couple are a little too garish. My favourite is probably the dusky blue version (top row, third), though, because it reminds me of something in the 70s. I dunno, maybe I’m just making things up here.

But I’d recommend you try it out, it’s surprising what results you end up with, and also which hidden things in a picture may get highlighted. Plus it’s always fun playing around with images on my mobile’s photo apps. )
