Orange Petals

We’ve been getting sunny spells lately, and it’s nice to be able to walk around in the warm afternoons where the sun is setting later and later, and the flowers, trees and plant-pots are all blossoming. I’m making the most of it while I can (I still half-expect a random heavy shower in the middle of the day), enjoying cool breezes with blue skies.

Here’s something my mum bought for her garden recently, she also bought a few other colours but I love the vividness of this one, it’s sharp and eye-catching and a perfect symbol for summer.

Cable Cars over River Thames

This weekend we took some of my nieces and nephews out to ride on the Emirates Air Line, which have cable cars flying across the River Thames from Greenwich to the Royal Docks. We got there at the perfect time, the sun set while we were in the cable car, and by the time we got to the other side, it was already dark.

The kids had great fun in the car (my toddler niece was fascinated by the view and was the quietest I’ve ever seen her!), and we took plenty of pictures and selfies from our height. It was pretty amazing seeing the o2 Dome, the River Thames and all the boats, and also the bright lights and motorways around which added to the view.

If you’re ever around this area I’d recommend a visit, it’s cheap and doesn’t take long, and it’s a great way to travel across the river!

Vintage Mondays: Pandora’s Wardobe, A Hidden Fashion Treasure Trove

I love vintage shops, and I was lucky enough to come across one a couple of days ago with some beautiful designer vintage-wear in it while on a trip to Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea. I love the name of it as well – Pandora’s Wardobe, implying secrets from a box wrapped up in beautiful things froom a wardrobe, very appealing (although excuse my reflection in the picture, entirely accidental!)

And there’s definitely some goodies in here which caught my eye, I saw a beautiful black and gold embroidered vintage evening jacket, a vintage silk Karl Lagerfield scarf and a beautiful collection of shoes (although I didn’t have enough money to buy anything!)

It’s nice to find a genuine vintage shop (and it’s on a whole road of junk shops, thrift shops and antique shops!) which you can walk along cobbled-streets and stop for a nice spot of tea and cake at the end of!

Happy Vintage Mondays!

Throwback Thursday: Potions & Cauldrons in Harry Potter Studio Tour

I went to the wonderful Harry Potter Studio Tour a while back, and thought some of the sets, costumes and details were amazing – I’ve said before that I won’t post too many photos so I don’t ruin the experience for anyone who wants to go, but I thought I’d do a quick post of a shot I took of the Potions room, which was beautifully laid out with bottles, glasses, beakers, potions and of course, cauldrons.

I love the atmosphere of this photograph, there wasn’t a lot of light so it was almost a night-time view, but it worked because of the soft glow of the lamps and the blue shades in the shadows – you can almost imagine a student creeping through the room trying to steal ingredients or hide from Snape!

A Snapshot View of Tour de France 2014

We were lucky enough to have the Tour de France cyclists whizz past my office today, and of course we all took this as an opportunity to leave the office building for an hour while we cheered passing floats, followed by the superfast cyclists.

We all cheered when they came (although there was a lone, non-Tour-de-France related cyclist who rode past first and got the shock of his life when we all screamed), and there was plenty picture-taking/mobile waving/jumping up and down.

And then, as quick as they came, they left, and the crowd just as quickly dispersed and went back into their offices.

A good way to spend a Monday at work : )
